It emerged as a distinct field in the 20th century, when it was realized that diverse mathematical processes, from arithmetic to calculus procedures, exhibit very similar properties. Funkcionalna analiza je grana matematičke analize, čije jezgro je formirano proučavanjem vektorskih prostora koji imaju neku vrstu granične strukture (npr. unutrašnji proizvod, normu, topologiju, itd.) i linearne funkcije definisane na tim prostorima i poštovanje tih struktura u odgovarajućem smislu. Istorijski koreni funkcionalne analize leže u proučavanju prostora funkcija, i u formulaciji svojstava transformacija funkcija, poput Furijeove transformacije, kao transformacije koja definiše kontinualne, unitarne i slične operatore između funkcijskih prostora. Ova tačka gledišta pokazala se posebno korisnom za proučavanje diferencijalnih i integralnih jednačina. Upotreba reči funkcionalna potiče iz računa varijacija, implicirajući funkciju čiji je argument funkcija. Termin je prvi put korišten u Adamarovoj knjizi iz 1910. godine o toj temi. Međutim, generalni koncept funkcionalnog je ranije uveo, 1887. godine, italijanski matematičar i fizičar Vito Voltera.[1][2] Teoriju nelinearnih funkcija nastavili su njegovi učenici, a posebno Freše i Levi. Nasuprot tome, linearna algebra se uglavnom bavi konačno-dimenzionalnim prostorima, i ne koristi topologiju. Važan deo funkcionalne analize je proširenje teorije mere, integracije i verovatnoće na beskonačno dimenzionalne prostore, takođe poznate kao beskonačno dimenzionalna analiza. Starting from the structure of matter and various types of bonds in the first chapter the mechanical properties are treated in the second chapter. The second chapter also includes a discussion of Hooke`s Law, plastic flow, dislocations, elasticity etc. The third chapter deals with statistical mechanics and discusses degenerate and non-degenerate ensembles and various distribution functions. The fourth chapter looks at thermal properties of solids with reference to crystal lattice, heat capacity, heat conductivity etc. The fifth chapter discusses band theory of solids with reference to energy spectrum, effective mass and semiconductors. Some of the graphs in this chapter are revealing of the physical processes in the working of band structure. Sixth and seventh chapter deal with electrical and magnetic properties of solids. SC 1967 The Old Quantum Theory explains how the classical laws were modified by Planck, Einstein, Rutherford, Bohr, and other contributors to account for atomic phenomena, comprising the development of quantum theory from its start at the very end of the 19th century until the beginning of the 20th century. This book begins by discussing Planck`s discovery of his radiation law, followed by Einstein`s introduction to quanta. Next is a description of the Rutherford model of the atom and Bohr`s postulates, which are confirmed by the Franck-Hertz experiment. This selection concludes with a description of how Bohr`s theory could explain the main features of the atomic spectra. A brief summary of other important developments in the period are also elaborated.
