  • Roberto Savijano NULA NULA NULA
Nula nula nula, Roberto Savijano Nulanulanula

    Geopoetika, 2014.
    446 strana.

  • Broj strana: 208 Povez: Paperback Format: 12.7 x 1.3 x 19.8 cm Godina izdanja: 2005. Henry Molise, a fifty-year-old successful writer, returns to the family home to help with the latest drama; his elderly parents want to divorce. Henry's tyrannical, bricklaying father, Nick, despite being weakened by age and alcoholism, can still strike fear into the hearts of his sons. His mother, ill and devoutly Catholic, still has the power both to comfort and confuse her children. Nick has been offered some well-paid work to build a smokehouse in the hills, and Henry, realising this might be the last chance they have to reconcile things, agrees to lend a hand. What he doesn't appreciate is how much this journey is going to change his view of his father. The Brotherhood of the Grape is vintage Fante, brimming with love, death, violence and religion. Writing with great passion, Fante powerfully describes the damage that family can wreak upon us all.

  • Broj strana: 312 Povez: Mek Format: 20 cm Godina izdanja: 2018.

  • Broj strana: 592 Povez: Paperback Format: 14.1 x 2.5 x 20.8 cm Godina izdanja: 2017. The Big Green Tent is the kind of book for which the term "Russian novel" was invented. A sweeping saga, it tells the story of three school friends who meet in 1950s Moscow and go on to embody the heroism, folly, compromise, and hope of the Soviet dissident experience. These three boys - an orphaned poet; a gifted, fragile pianist; and a budding photographer with a talent for collecting secrets - struggle to reach adulthood in a society where their heroes have been censored and exiled. Rich with love stories, intrigue, and a cast of dissenters and spies, The Big Green Tent offers a panoramic survey of life after Stalin and a dramatic investigation into the prospects for integrity in a society defined by the KGB. Each of the central characters seeks to transcend an oppressive regime through art, a love of Russian literature, and activism. And each of them ends up face-to-face with a secret police that is highly skilled at fomenting paranoia, division, and self-betrayal. Ludmila Ulitskaya's big, yet intimate novel belongs to the tradition of Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, and Pasternak: a work of politics, love, and belief that is a revelation of life in dark times.

  • Broj strana: 368 Povez: Hardcover Format: 16.2 x 3.3 x 24 cm Godina izdanja: 2018. THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER. 'A writer the world needs to be reading right now' – The Independent 'An apposite and nuanced novel... Picoult writes about an emotive, controversial issue with unflinching precision.' – Red 'A very special novel about a very difficult subject.' – Grazia 'Her intelligent, meticulously researched novels explore ethical dilemmas through heartrending, headline-grabbing scenarios' – The Sunday Times The Center for women's reproductive health offers a last chance at hope - but nobody ends up there by choice. Its very existence is controversial, and to the demonstrators who barricade the building every day, the service it offers is no different from legalised murder. Now life and death decisions are being made horrifyingly real: a lone protester with a gun has taken the staff, patients and visitors hostage. Starting at the tensest moment in the negotiations for their release, A Spark of Light unravels backwards, revealing hour by urgent hour what brought each of these people - the gunman, the negotiator, the doctors, nurses and women who have come to them for treatment - to this point. And certainties unwind as truths and secrets are peeled away, revealing the complexity of balancing the right to life with the right to choose.
