Product Description With the new Response DB1, ProAc has set out to produce a small speaker with a quality of sound normally associated with larger speakers, particularly in the bass response A Smaller Build Although this type of speaker can be accurate and sound better in some areas than some larger loudspeakers, the Achilles’ heel of a small loudspeaker is its bass extension and the size of the sound stage. A big loudspeaker can produce low octaves and exhibit a large sound stage, ideal for large orchestral works and high-level rock however they can dominate the room visually. Resonance Control The DB1 cabinet is slightly larger than the previous D1 model, and is made from different thicknesses of high-density MDF and utilises bituminous damping panels to control cabinet resonances. A newly designed long throw bass driver with raised spider and linear motor system has been incorporated in a rear ported cabinet. The mid/bass driver cone is manufactured from carbon mixed pulp that is then elastic coated and fitted with our ProAc acrylic pole damping phase plug. Superb Performance The new high-quality crossover has been designed to produce a flatter response at high sound levels and the tweeter is a ProAc 1” silk dome similar to that used in the highly successful ProAc Response D2. The result is superb midrange and high-frequency reproduction and in the classic ProAc tradition, low colouration and impressive detail. The new driver produces a wonderful bass quality that is both punchy, extended and in some ways, reminiscent of a larger loudspeaker. Choice of Finish The DB1 also has the type of larger sound stage normally associated with bigger cabinets. The ProAc Response DB1 comes in the real wood veneer standard finishes of cherry, mahogany, black ash & maple together with silk white and the premium veneer finishes of rosewood & ebony. Tech Specs Nominal Impedance: 8 ohms Recommended Amps: 20 -100W Freq Resp: 35Hz-30KHz (+/-3dB) 50Hz-20KHz Sensitivity: 87.5 dB linear for 1w @1m Bass Diver: ProAc 5” long throw unit Uses: special cone and acrylic phase plug Tweeter: 1” silk dome with special coolant Crossover: Finest components on circuit board Cable: Multistrand oxygen free copper Biwiring: Split for optional Bi-wiring/Bi-amp Crossover Frequncy: 2.9KHz Mode: Stand Mounted Grille: Acoustically transparent crimplene Dimensions (HDW): 320 X 280 X 182mm Weight: 8.8Kg (19.6lbs)

An unrelenting passion for breathtaking bass performance and engineering perfection guided every aspect of the PB16-Ultra subwoofer’s development. Groundbreaking technology, rigorous design and extreme testing in real world and laboratory environments allowed SVS to achieve unmatched low frequency extension and output capabilities all while keeping it amazingly detailed and articulate. The culmination of all SVS design advancements, PB16-Ultra represents an incomparable bass experience. Nothing else comes close. Masterful Engineering. 3 Game-Changing Subwoofer Innovations. One of these groundbreaking innovations would’ve been enough to make the PB16-Ultra an engineering tour-de-force, but the combination of 3 subwoofer firsts propels the SVS PB16-Ultra into the pantheon of all-time great audio products. Massive New 16-inch SVS Ultra Driver with Unprecedented 8-inch Edge Wound Voice Coil. When designing the biggest and most formidable driver ever used in an SVS subwoofer, it was of utmost importance to meet or exceed the same supreme standards of control and accuracy as every other subwoofer SVS manufactures. One huge advancement that allows the PB16-Ultra to handle the crushing force of a 16-inch driver is the 8-inch edge wound voice coil, the largest ever deployed in a consumer subwoofer. This innovation ensures ultra-low distortion and pinpoint control at the highest drive levels resulting in incredible output and low frequency extension. By nature, larger drivers are more difficult to control, but the unprecedented voice coil design ensures accuracy in frequency response and speed in transients without ever sounding boomy. Pushing the driver are four massive, dedicated toroidal ferrite magnets that unleash a staggering 95mm peak to peak excursion and the highest levels of motor force and palpable SPLs. The light and rigid 16-inch Ultra driver cone consists of a premium fiberglass resin composite with optimal stiffness to mass ratio to maximize movement of air and sonic energy without ever distorting or losing control. Stunningly Powerful, New Sledge Amplifier with Fully Discrete MOSFET Output and 1,500 Watts Continuous, 5,000+ Watts Peak Power. Conservatively rated at 1,500 watts continuous, 5,000+ watts peak power, the PB16-Ultra Sledge STA-1500D amplifier’s 64 Amp 200-Volt MOSFETs are the sonic muscle behind arguably the most powerful and highest fidelity subwoofer amplifier ever developed. Discrete MOSFET output unbridles the nearly limitless power in the Sledge amplifier and pushes the 16-inch driver to extreme levels of performance. They also represent an upgrade over the less robust integrated circuit output stages found in nearly all other Class D subwoofer amplifiers. Effortless power must be harnessed to ensure refined behavior and pristine output at the most demanding drive levels. To achieve this, the PB16-Ultra subwoofer uses the audio industry’s most advanced 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56bit filtering to handle the nearly limitless power, only unleashing the perfect amount of low frequency energy at just the right time. Innovative New Smartphone App for Subwoofer DSP and Control. Compatible with Apple® and Android® platforms, the innovative PB16-Ultra smartphone app unleashes the full depth, force and nuance of the world’s finest subwoofer. The groundbreaking SVS subwoofer app controls all DSP functions and conveniently stores custom presets. It’s the easiest way ever to fine tune bass surpassing 16Hz at reference volumes from the comfort of your favorite seat. For added convenience, 2-way feedback shows updates in real time on both the app and subwoofer interface and Bluetooth connectivity allows adjustments to be made even when the subwoofer is not in sight. Control is also available via IR remote and an intuitive front panel display. Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google Inc. Acoustically Inert, Rigidly Braced Cabinet A subwoofer capable of creating such extreme levels of sonic energy requires a formidable cabinet design. The PB16-Ultra is built with a double thick MDF front baffle and rigid internal bracing to support the massive drive unit and to ensure an acoustically inert environment. The highly reinforced internal design eliminates any chance of coloration or resonance from the cabinet, even when the deepest low frequencies are played at reference sound pressure levels. Bass Loading Bass loading is achieved by side vented directional loading similar to that used in the D40, producing an extremely accurate and powerful bass response with good extension and low colouration. Carbon Fibre Cones ProAc has recently implemented the use of carbon fibre in the cones of the Response D40 and Carbon Pro 8, and Kevlar in the Tablette Anniversary and K6 models, thereby achieving levels of sound quality that were only dreamed of a few years ago. The necessary exhaustive research involved in the development of these models and the materials employed has enabled us to design cones that give excellent frequency response characteristics and the new Response D30RS is the latest model to take advantage of the acoustic excellence of carbon fibre. Crossover The crossover network employs dedicated components of the highest quality and multi-strand oxygen-free copper wiring. The classic ProAc split crossover design offers bi-wiring and bi-amping options. The D30RS, therefore, offers a similar bass loading, cone material, tweeter and crossover network to that of its larger sibling, making it an ideal choice for those who require a smaller floorstander but still demand sonic excellence. Performance Once set up using ProAc's supplied spikes, which are designed to penetrate even thick carpet and when partnered with quality electronics, the exceptional performance of the D30 can be fully realised. Offering clean powerful bass, an uncoloured, open midrange and a sweet, detailed high-frequency response, the Stewart Tyler-designed D30RS offers a wonderfully natural and musical performance with pinpoint imagery that will appeal to audiophiles and music lovers all over the world. Flagship floorstanders in KEF's Reference Meta range, these stunning speakers will be on permanent demonstration in our showroom alongside other Reference Meta speakers EF Reference 5 Meta are the flagship floorstanding loudspeakers in the latest Reference Meta range, sitting above the Reference 1 Meta stand mount and smaller Reference 3 Meta floorstanders. For the past five decades KEF have been consistently improving and searching for the pinnacle in home speaker systems, for 2022 they have brought to the table a game changer in their flagship Reference 5 Meta. New Drivers On the Reference 5 Meta, KEF has taken a new approach to how their speakers are driven with an all new 12th generation Uni-Q driver array that includes a HF driver that is a 25mm (1”) aluminium dome with MAT which is also paired with a fantastic 125mm (5”) MF driver, which deliver a tight and punchy response which when combined with the quad 165mm (6.5”) bass units – you truly have the pinnacle of speakers at your fingertips. Metamaterial Absorption Technology Across the Reference Meta series, KEF has introduced a brand new technological advancement in MAT (Metamaterial Absorption Technology) which delivers a 99% absorption rate from the back of the driver – eliminating distortion to such a point where even the most sensitive of ear wouldn’t be able to discernibly pick it up. This technology is the next leap forward for your setup and will hold you in good stead for years if not decades to come. Across The Frequencies The Reference 5 Meta doesn’t just give you what the previous generation delivered, it takes it to a whole new dimension with a soundstage that delivers a free field (-6dB) response of 35Hz – 45kHz (short port), 32Hz – 45kHz (long port) and standard response of 40Hz – 35kHz. That means every single little nuance of audio will be given a fair hearing and chance to truly shine with the Reference 5 Meta Amplifier Matching With such an impressive cast of parts you would normally expect a speaker like this to require a serious amount of power, however on the Reference 5 Meta the power draw is only 50W to 400W, making them power efficient in your amplification setup – ensuring that they only draw what they need at the time. The AE520 is a powerful, slim-line, floor-standing loudspeaker which builds on the AE500 and AE509 models to firmly establish itself as the brand’s new flagship, featuring multi-driver design, imposing size and performance. The AE520 features two dedicated 125mm mid-range drivers, three low frequency drivers and a 25mm tweeter – all fashioned from carbon fibre to provide perfect tonal matching across the frequency range. Vertical directivity has been optimised to provide excellent vertical coverage whilst reducing the energy otherwise wasted on ceiling and floor reflections when compared to traditional designs. Tweeter Our 500 Series tweeter features a brand new 25mm carbon fibre dome. Carbon fibre is much lighter and better damped than other typical hard dome materials and provides a lightning fast, natural sound which will surprise the listener with its neutrality. The new cast aluminium WDT waveguide on the high frequency driver is positioned close to the mid/bass driver for optimum dispersion and is extremely stiff to reduce vibration being passed to the tweeter, ensuring sweet, clear and natural highs. Drivers The 125mm mid/bass driver includes a new oversized 35mm voice coils for low thermal compression and very high motor force factor, to provide a highly dynamic yet controlled bass response. The woofer has an optimised motor and suspension system for maximum linearity and lowest distortion ensuring mid range definition, whilst the lightweight nature of the carbon fibre cone material increases transient speed and clarity. Crossover The crossovers use high voltage polypropylene film wound capacitors and air core inductors at critical locations for optimum dispersion through a smaller acoustic source size within the crossover region. The AE509 is a Mid Tweeter Mid/Bass (MTM) driver layout and both models use a 2 way crossover, whilst the AE520 utilises a 3 way design. Cabinet These unique drivers are housed in our new 18mm Resonance Suppression Composite (RSC) cabinets, evolved from the prestigious Reference Series and featuring the same constrained layer composite to greatly reduce cabinet acoustic radiation, which would otherwise colour the sound. Small wonder 803 D4 may be notably more compact than the 801 D4 or 802 D4, but it still bristles with technical innovation, most obviously in its use of a three-box construction. Its 130mm (5-in) midrange cone is carefully isolated from the impact of its bass cones thanks to its Turbine Head enclosure. Reverse Wrap cabinet Instead of a conventional loudspeaker box, our cabinets are made from a continuous curved section of wood, with the drive units mounted at the heart of the curvature. This stiffer, more inert structure resists mechanical resonances far better and also ensures better dispersion of sound. Enhanced Matrix™ Matrix bracing uses interlocking panels to reinforce loudspeaker cabinet walls in all directions internally, reducing resonance and creating a more believable soundstage. The Matrix assembly in 803 D4 is our best yet, ensuring optimum scale, power and intelligibility. Aluminium bass pods 803 D4 mounts two Aerofoil™ bass cones in twin solid aluminium bass pods, each of which is clamped into an aluminium plate fixed to the stiffest part of its curved cabinet. Formed as single pieces of metal, these stiff structures provide the perfect mechanical location for those powerful bass cones. The science of sound Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We question, we examine, we understand and then we evolve. We use computer modelling to explore and reimagine every aspect of loudspeaker design. Learn more about all the technologies that combine to make 800 Series Diamond™ so special here. There are few speakers more revered throughout the music industry than the volume-pumping, chicly-designed 800 Series Diamond range. Abbey Road recording studios uses them; which should tell you all you need to know. Gentlemen's Journal Step up for more power 803 D4 features all the most iconic ingredients in the 800 Series Diamond range including, of course, that famous headed enclosure. It is, however, smaller than its other siblings. Step up to the 802 D4, and you’ll get both larger 200mm (8-in) bass cones and a larger 150mm (6-in) midrange driver. The LS60's sound profile is smooth, consistent, and extremely natural, delivering an incredibly accurate and immersive listening experience. Taking advantage of KEF's innovative technologies, the Single Apparent Source design utilises precise driver calibration to ensure that the entire frequency spectrum appears to radiate from a single point. Taken from their flagship Blade speaker, this feature gives these wireless floorstanding speakers highly accurate imaging and accurate sound across larger space. The LS60's drivers are built with KEF's Uni-Q® driver array, which places its vented tweeter in the acoustic centre of the cone. This combined with their Uni-Core™ woofer design which improves force cancelling drivers to output deeper, accurate bass from smaller cabinets makes these speakers sound truly excellent at all times. This one-two punch of innovative driver design ensures that the LS60's sound is consistent no matter where you are in the room. No more hunting for the best position, your entire space has now become one large sweet spot. The final unique characteristic of the LS60's sound is its Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). MAT is a complex, winding structure that eliminates unwanted sound from the rear of the speaker drivers, delivering a pure and realistic sound that you'll get lost in instantaneously. Loading a single speaker with all of this staggering technology makes the LS60's some of the most natural sounding floorstanding speakers available. Featuring not just one, but four unique technical innovations in a pair of speakers, the LS60 deliver acoustic excellence for any occasion. Celebrating 60 Years of Innovation LS60 Wireless combines all of KEF's core technology to provide one of the most technologically advanced wireless floorstanding speakers. Designed in Collaboration with Michael Young Minimalistic, and futuristic, the LS60's physical design reflects what KEF are aiming to achieve sonically. The LS60 look and feel natural, and sleek. Single Apparent Source Technology Utilising precise calibration of their drivers, the LS60 gives exceedingly coherent sound that appears to come from a single point, delivering detailed stereo information and accurate sound across a larger space. Uni-Q Driver Design By placing the tweeter accurately at the acoustic centre of the bass/midrange drivers, both units act together as a single point source. This makes for a more even sound distribution, eliminating the need for sweet spots. The LS60 sounds its best absolutely everywhere. Uni-Core Speaker Cones KEF's engineers have iterated on typical force cancelling speaker cones by combining the traditional back-to-back drivers into a single motor system. The overlapping voice coils deliver improved driver excursion, giving low frequencies more depth and output in smaller cabinets. Metamaterial Absorption Technology MAT™ is an advanced, maze-like structure that eliminates unwanted sound from the rear of the driver, giving pure, realistic sound. Designed in collaboration with the Acoustic Metamaterials Group, this feature revolutionises loudspeaker design. Music Integrity Engine The Music Integrity Engine, having been the heart of KEF's previous LS50 Wireless II is a collection of bespoke Digital Signal Processing algorithms. These algorithms are optimised for the Uni-Q drivers, making them deliver a perfectly timed performance, improving imaging and tightening sound for snappy, clear transients. Advanced Amplification The LS60's built-in amplifiers deliver a total of 1400 W of amplification. Class A/B tweeter amplification provides smooth, nuanced treble that fits the LS60's natural, realistic sound. Then, dedicated Class D amplification powering the mid and bass drivers assure powerful, but controlled and articulate low-frequencies. Comprehensive Connectivity The LS60 supports audio streaming from a wide variety of formats. All major music streaming services, a wide range of supported audio formats, and wireless streaming via Chromecast, Bluetooth, or Roon are all options. Plus, wired HDMI, optical, coaxial, and RCA connections, as well as subwoofer outputs allow you to expand and use your system however suits you. Performance redefined. An icon born from The Reference. Developed for KEF’s flagship The Reference, a suite of the latest technologies has now made its way into the new generation of the R Series. Whether in stereo for music or in a home theatre set up the R Series makes exceptional acoustic performance more accessible. Now with the groundbreaking Metamaterial Absorption Technology, the R Series reveals exquisite detail and incredible insight: truly an experience to savour. Innovation R Series: Born from The Reference Since 1961, KEF’s quest to reproduce immaculate sound has led to many acoustic innovations. The Reference is a case in point. Distilling decades of experience into an acoustic performance that is nothing short of exceptional, it is a design that continually sets the benchmark for loudspeakers and sound reproduction. Now the latest technological innovations have also made their way into the R Series. Metamaterial Absorption Technology Absorb 99% of unwanted sound At the heart of the R Series is Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). MAT™ is a highly complex maze-like structure that absorbs 99% of the unwanted noise from the rear of the driver, eliminating the resulting distortion and providing purer, more natural sound. Uni-Q® Sit anywhere, hear every detail A 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array with MAT™ is found in all seven models of the R Series. Uni-Q® acts as a single point source to disperse sound more evenly through the room. The result is the elimination of the limited ‘sweet spot’, therefore allowing everybody, wherever in the room they may be, to experience and enjoy the same natural, detailed sound. Performance Performance redefined The R Series is engineered to be acoustically exceptional. Every element of the design has been precisely tuned to deliver more detail and deeper insight, recreating the exhilaration of hearing an original music performance, with all the emotion and nuance that goes with it. A Flare for Detail Derived from The Reference, Shadow Flare is an innovative way to cut harmful high frequency cabinet diffraction. It's a carefully profiled transition that extends the waveguide effect of Uni-Q®. The treble escapes naturally because the ‘shadow region’ stops it getting to the cabinet edges. The result is vastly improved fine detail. Performance critical damping A solid platform is imperative for great sound. The R Series benefits from constrained layer damping, a system that uses internal braces joined by a ‘lossy’ interface. This material converts unwanted vibration into heat, ensuring that the cabinet makes the only sound it needs to: the sound of silence. True Bass Definition R Series bass drivers have a two-part structure with a shallow, concave, aluminium skin atop a paper cone. This stiffness, combined with the cone’s unique geometry, achieves a piston-like movement for punch and speed. The drivers’ magnet system creates a broad and uniform magnetic field which means more impressive and impactful bass. Flexible port for cleaner bass We only want to hear the drivers, not the resonances or turbulence created by a bass port. The R Series ports have innovative flexible walls. Using computational fluid dynamics, the flare and profile of each port is calculated to delay the onset of turbulence and the flexible port walls prevent resonances from colouring the midrange. Versatility Strength and versatility in numbers R Series offers a choice of floorstanding speakers, bookshelf speakers, centre channel speakers and accompanying home theatre models. Each one offers the finest sound KEF has ever delivered in its category, whatever the dimensions of the room or system configuration. Stereo for Music The R Series consists of a trio of floorstanding speakers and a bookshelf speaker to reproduce high-fidelity stereo sound for your favourite music. Discover depth and detail you never knew existed – from the scrape of a plectrum on a guitar string to the emotion and atmosphere of a live performance. Multi Channel Home Theatre For the greatest movie experience at home, KEF offers both architectural speakers and modular HiFi speakers, such as the R Series, that don’t need custom installation. With three floorstanding speaker models, one bookshelf speaker model and two centre channel speakers to choose from, plus the additional Dolby Atmos surround speaker, different home theatre set-ups can be easily configured with the R Series. Complete the set-up with KEF’s class-leading subwoofers to feel the most immersive cinematic experience, from the deepest rumble to the softest whisper. Beautiful by design Driven purely by acoustics, at KEF we believe there is a certain beauty even to the internal engineering fixings. The R Series has been created to be beautiful on the outside, and these finely tuned workings are protected behind a minimal exterior designed to fit seamlessly and elegantly into any interior scheme, whether traditional, modern or contemporary. Finished to Perfection Three carefully selected finishes include sleek Black Gloss, White Gloss and classic Walnut, while special edition finishes include Titanium Gloss and Indigo Gloss for the R7 Meta and R3 Meta respectively. Dedicated microfibre grilles The R Series has been engineered to perform with or without grilles. The dedicated microfibre grilles are crafted from multiple layers of material and have a suede-like feel. With 1801 precision-cut holes for each driver, performance is ensured even when the drivers are covered. The magnetic fixings provide a secure and precise fit, in keeping with the clean styling of the R Series. 40 years of excellence Innovation. 801 D4 is defined by it. In each of its incarnations over the decades, 801 has always been the most advanced loudspeaker that we know to make at that particular point in time, a showcase of all our newest technologies and most original thinking. Small wonder it has become an icon. The ultimate Matrix™ Matrix bracing uses interlocking panels to reinforce loudspeaker cabinet walls in all directions internally, reducing resonance and creating a more believable soundstage. The Matrix assembly in 801 D4 is our best yet, upgraded with extensive aluminium bracing to reinforce key stress points. Turbine™ Head The all-aluminium Turbine Head houses our Continuum™ midrange cone in a stiff and critically damped enclosure to eliminate unwanted resonances. At the same time, it’s decoupled from both the bass enclosure and the tweeter body. The result? The most realistic midrange sound yet. Biomimetic Suspension Sometimes, making a big difference takes unconventional thinking. Our new Biomimetic Suspension revolutionises midrange performance by greatly reducing the unwanted air pressure and coloration that a traditional fabric spider can generate. The result? Midrange transparency you wouldn’t believe. The science of sound Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We question, we examine, we understand and then we evolve. Classic quality 804 D4 is perhaps more conventional in appearance than other floor-standers in the 800 Series Diamond range, but it’s every bit as sophisticated. Its new Reverse-Wrap cabinet is both a mechanical and acoustic revolution in its class, and its new plinth ensures rock-solid, accurate bass response too. Aluminium top-plate Every stereo model in the new 800 Series Diamond range has a significantly upgraded cabinet with an all-new aluminium top-plate. This also provides a perfect mounting point for all-new Leather by Connolly trim, with luxurious black leather for dark cabinets and light grey for lighter finishes. Reverse Wrap cabinet Instead of a conventional loudspeaker box, the cabinet in 804 D4 is made from a continuous curved section of wood, with the drive units mounted at the heart of the curvature. This stiffer, more inert structure resists mechanical resonances far better and also ensures better dispersion of sound. Aluminium plinth A great speaker needs a rock-solid foundation. The new 804 D4 uses a downwards-firing Flowport exiting on to a solid aluminium plinth complete with a steel constrained layer damping sheet, which controls unwanted resonance. It also has greatly upgraded spikes for maximum stability and durability. The science of sound Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We question, we examine, we understand and then we evolve. We use computer modelling to explore and reimagine every aspect of loudspeaker design. Learn more about all the technologies that combine to make 800 Series Diamond so special here. The 804 D4 is a significant upgrade over its predecessor. Purity, resolution and prominently presenting the finest detail and a lifelike performance are its strengths. hifi.nl - 5 stars Get a Head 804 D4 is the entry-level floor-standing model in the 800 Series Diamond range.
