Autor: Julian Shuckburgh Povez: tvrd Br. strana: 132 Format: 41x30,5 Pun kolor, štampano na kunstdruku! London is a magical city with its beginnings dating back thousands of years to the Roman days. Think of London today and images of beautifully impressive sights come to mind: the Royal family and their palaces, the House of Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. Culturally, there are dozens of incomparable museums, such as The British Museum, The National Gallery and the Cabinet War Rooms, and of course, one cannot exclude the famous London theaters. On a more intimate scale, one thinks of quaint pubs, open-air markets, iconic red double-decker buses, telephone boxes, and helmeted bobbies. Meandering through the charismatic sections of London is a stretch of the River Thames, serving as an anchor for the dazzling array of sites that make London so special. With Spectacular London, you can celebrate this historic city as it gears up to be the host of the 2012 Olympics. This sleek volume includes more than 130 magnificent full-color illustrations and brings together all of London`s unique sites, presenting some of the most memorable views of this ancient city. With fantastic photographs of this vibrant city, many shown in foldouts that are almost three feet long, Spectacular London takes the reader from the pastoral setting of Hyde Park to the bustling financial center of the City, from the sophisticated London nightlife to an afternoon at Hampton Court.

Prateći program čine: dečja radionica „Govoriš likovni jezik“ (subotom 6. i 20. oktobra i 3. novembra od 11 do 13 sati); sve zainteresovane kroz izložbu će voditi kokustos Saša Janjić, nedeljom u 12 sati. - Blic

London / Njujork 1974. Tvrd povez, zaštitni omot, engleski jezik, ilustrovano, veliki format (30 cm), 160 strana. Knjiga je odlično očuvana. THE POP SCENE changes so rapidly that today`s greats are tomorrow`s has-beens, and yesterday`s old favourites are often completely forgotten until somebody says `whatever happened to...?` By looking at the top records and stars year by year since 1955, this book will not only revive memories and set the reader singing the old songs, it will also provide an outline of the development of the great explosion of interest in pop since the early days of Elvis Presley, Tommy Steele, Bill Haley and the rest. Rock `n` roll, skiffle, twist, Merseybeat, folk, country-and-western, heavy rock—all these and others have had periods of tremendous popularity. And with each change of style has come the new stars. Some like Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, seem to go on for as long as they like at the top; others shoot up the charts, enjoy brief spells of adulation, and as rapidly disappear. The author does not attempt to analyse the reasons records or artists were successful, nor does he express opinions on the relative merits of the hits he writes about: he is content to trace general trends and list the best-sellers year by year. Perhaps the most evocative aspect of the book is the photographs, of which there are over 250, including 16 full-page pictures in colour. The pictures show the artists in their hey-days: thus Cliff Richard is shown as he looked when he made Living Doll in 1959; The Beatles are shown with their 1963 hair-cuts (why was the `Beatle hair-cut` such a sensation at the time?) and these pictures can be compared with that of today`s high priest of pop, David Bowie. While the book can be used as a work of reference to the records made over the last nineteen years, it will bring most joy to readers who like an occasional nostalgic reminder of the pop heroes of younger days, and who like to remember the old tunes while enjoying the new.
