Made in Austria. Booklet na 16 strana. Disk u odličnom stanju. Label: RCA – 07863 66114 2 Format: CD, Album Country: Europe Released: Mar 1993 Genre: Rock, Pop Style: Soft Rock, Pop Rock Harbor Lights was the fourth album by Bruce Hornsby and was released by RCA Records in 1993. It was the first album credited solely to Hornsby, without his previous backing band, the Range. The record showcased Hornsby in a more jazz-oriented setting and featured an all-star lineup, including Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, Jerry Garcia, Phil Collins and Bonnie Raitt. Unlike earlier albums, Harbor Lights allowed more space for Hornsby`s and guest-players` `extended instrumental` solos to `flow naturally` out of the songs. The tone was set by the opening title track, which after 50 seconds of expansive solo piano lurches into an up-tempo jazz number, ending with Metheny`s guitar runs. The album closes in a similar fashion with `Pastures of Plenty`, this time with an extended guitar solo from Garcia intertwined with Hornsby`s piano. Hornsby also quotes the main musical phrase from the Grateful Dead`s `Dark Star` as the jazz head to his song about tensions surrounding a biracial relationship, `Talk of the Town`. The mid-tempo `Fields of Gray`, written for Hornsby`s recently born twin sons, received some modest radio airplay, peaking at #69 on the Billboard Hot 100. Harbor Lights was well received by critics and fans, who praised it for its `cooler, jazzier sound` and its `affinity for sincere portraits of American life, love, and heartache.` The album cover uses Edward Hopper`s 1951 painting Rooms By the Sea.

Original, made in Europe Knjizica od 12 str. Odlicno ocuvano knjizica 5 Cd 5 Greatest hits album by Peter Gabriel Released 19 November 1990[1] Recorded 1976–1990 Genre Art rock Length 77:05 Label Geffen/Virgin Producer Bob EzrinSteve LillywhitePeter GabrielDaniel Lanois Peter Gabriel chronology Passion: Music for The Last Temptation of Christ (1989) Shaking the Tree: Sixteen Golden Greats (1990) Us (1992) Shaking the Tree: Sixteen Golden Greats is a compilation album by the English rock musician Peter Gabriel. It was released in 1990 as Gabriel`s first career retrospective, including songs from his first solo album Peter Gabriel (I or Car) (1977), through Passion: Music for The Last Temptation of Christ (1989). It was remastered with most of Gabriel`s catalogue in 2002. The vinyl version of the album is called Shaking the Tree: Twelve Golden Greats. Track selection The tracks are creatively re-ordered, ignoring chronology. Some of the tracks were different from the album versions. New parts were recorded for several tracks in Gabriel`s Real World Studios. Most songs are edited for time, either as radio, single, or video edit versions. `Shakin` the Tree`—a track from Youssou N`Dour`s 1989 album The Lion—is a 1990 version featuring new vocals from Gabriel (and slightly revised title). `I Have the Touch` is listed as a 1983 remix, although it is actually the 1985 remix which appeared on the `Sledgehammer` single. (The 1985 remix is similar to the 1983 remix, which appeared as the B-side of the `Walk Through the Fire` single, but is edited down to 3m 45s long, as here.) `Here Comes the Flood` is a new recording from 1990. This version is a piano and voice arrangement, that is far simpler than the highly produced version on Peter Gabriel (1977). Its sparseness is closer to the version Gabriel recorded with Robert Fripp on Fripp`s Exposure (1979). In interviews, Gabriel has said that he preferred the 1979 version, and it was that version with Fripp that he chose to overdub in German as the flipside of the single `Biko` released before Ein deutsches Album (1980). Although this album highlights songs from Peter Gabriel`s earlier albums, tracks from Peter Gabriel (II, or Scratch) and the soundtrack to the film Birdy are not included. `In Your Eyes` is notably missing from the compilation. Say Anything..., in which it was played in a prominent scene, had been released the year before. Although this made `In Your Eyes` perhaps the most well known Peter Gabriel song aside from `Sledgehammer` in the U.S., it was omitted from the album in favour of five of the other eight tracks from So — four other hits and the album track `Mercy Street`. Track listing Tracks marked with (*) do not appear on the vinyl release of the album. Original, made in Germany Knjizica od 28 str. Odlicno ocuvano knjizica 5 Cd 5-/4+ Studio album by Tracy Chapman Released April 5, 1988 Recorded 1987–88 Studio Powertrax, Hollywood, California Genre Contemporary folkfolk rock[1]roots rock[2] Length 36:11 Label Elektra Producer David Kershenbaum Tracy Chapman chronology Tracy Chapman (1988) Crossroads (1989) Tracy Chapman is the debut album by the American singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, released on April 5, 1988, by Elektra Records. The album was recorded at the Powertrax studio in Hollywood, California. In 1987, Chapman was discovered by fellow Tufts University student Brian Koppelman. He offered to show her work to his father, who owned a successful publishing company; however, she did not consider the offer to be serious. After multiple performances, however, Koppelman found a demo tape of her singing `Talkin` `bout a Revolution`, which he promoted to radio stations, and she was eventually signed to Elektra. In early attempts to produce the first album, many producers turned down Chapman as they did not favor her musical direction. David Kershenbaum, however, decided to produce it as he wanted to record an acoustic music album. It was recorded in Hollywood, California, in eight weeks. Most of the writing is based on political and social causes. Tracy Chapman quickly gained critical acclaim from a wide majority of music critics, praising the simplicity, Chapman`s vocal ability and her political and social lyrical content. The album achieved commercial success in most of the countries it was released, making it to the top of the charts in many countries, including Austria, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark and the United Kingdom. It peaked at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified six-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with sales exceeding over six million copies in the United States alone. Three singles were released from the album, with the most successful single being `Fast Car`. The song was performed at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute. It rose to the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100 and also did well in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and other European countries. Tracy Chapman is one of the best-selling albums of all time, with sales of over 20 million units worldwide. Background In 1987, Chapman was discovered by fellow Tufts University student Brian Koppelman. In an interview, Koppelman said, `I was helping organize a boycott protest against apartheid at school, and [someone] told me there was this great protest singer I should get to play at the rally.` He went to see Chapman perform at a coffeehouse called Cappuccino, adding, `Tracy walked onstage, and it was like an epiphany. Her presence, her voice, her songs, her sincerity—it all came across.`[3] After this, Koppelman told Chapman that his father, Charles Koppelman, was at the time a co-owner of SBK Publishing and that he could help her make a record. She did not consider the offer seriously.[3] Koppelman was still very interested in Chapman, and he attended most of her shows. Chapman finally agreed to talk to him, but she did not record any demos for him. He later discovered that she had recorded demos at the Tufts` radio station WMFO for copyright purposes in exchange for the station`s right to play her music. Koppelman smuggled a demo tape of her song `Talkin` `bout a Revolution` from the station, which he showed to his father.[3] According to the interview, `He immediately got the picture and flew up to see her`. Her demo led to her signing a contract with Elektra Records. Chapman said, `I have to say that I never thought I would get a contract with a major record label [...] All the time since I was a kid listening to records and the radio, I didn`t think there was any indication that record people would find the kind of music that I did marketable. Especially when I was singing songs like `Talkin` `bout a Revolution` during the Seventies [...] I didn`t see a place for me there.`[3] Producer David Kershenbaum said that the album was `made for the right reasons,` adding, `There was a set of ideas that we wanted to communicate, and we felt if we were truthful and loyal to those ideas, then people would pick up on the emotion and the lyrical content that was there.`[3] Recording Chapman immediately started writing songs when she was signed to Elektra. Koppelman started finding producers for the album with the demo tape of her single `Talkin` `bout a Revolution`. However, she was turned down, due to the popularity of dance-pop and synthpop at the time.[3] In an interview with The Guardian in 2008, Chapman stated, `My first record was almost not my first record.` After the originally chosen producer was killed in a car accident, Elektra initially selected a producer with less experience to replace him, and the recording sessions were, according to Chapman, `horrible` and `bombastic`.[4] They then found Kershenbaum, who later recalled, `I`d been looking for something acoustic to do for some time,` adding, `There was a sense in the industry of a slight boredom with everything out there and that people might be willing to listen again to lyrics and to someone who made statements.` Chapman`s greatest concern during her meetings with Kershenbaum was that the integrity of her songs remain intact, because she wanted to record `real simple`. Kershenbaum said, `I wanted to make sure that she was in front, vocally and thematically, and that everything was built around her.` Every song that was featured on the resultant studio album had been featured on her demo tape, except for `Fast Car`, which was one of the last songs recorded for the album. Kershenbaum recalled that the first time she sang and performed it for him, he `loved it the minute I heard it.`[3] The album was, in total, recorded in eight weeks at Powertrax, Kershenbaum`s Hollywood studio.[3] Interviewed in 2002 by The Guardian, Kershenbaum stated that a lot of the public wanted `what she had`, adding, `And they weren`t getting it. She got there at the right moment with stuff that was good.`[5] Chapman was also interviewed and talked about the background of the album, stating, `The first record [Tracy Chapman] is seen as being more social commentary... more political. But I think that`s just all about perspective.`[5] Track listing All songs written by Tracy Chapman. It was released on May 20, 1997, by Epic Records, and is the second album also released by Jackson`s own record label, MJJ Productions. The album is made up of eight remixes from Jackson`s ninth studio album, HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (1995), and five new songs. Jackson was heavily involved with the production of the new material while the remixes were produced by other artists. Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix incorporates R&B, pop, industrial, hip hop, house, funk and new jack swing. It concerns themes such as drug addiction, sex, relationships and paranoia. Though Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix received minimal promotion by Jackson`s standards, particularly in the United States, the short film Michael Jackson`s Ghosts, two singles (`Blood on the Dance Floor` and `Ghosts`), a promotional single, and a music video were issued as promotion. Although initial sales in the United States were seen as disappointing for Jackson, the album peaked at number one in France, Belgium, Spain, and New Zealand. Michael Jackson`s Ghosts, was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, as part of Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix`s promotion. The short film, also considered the official music video for `Ghosts`, won the Bob Fosse Award for Best Choreography in a Music Video.[3] Reviews at the time of Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix were largely mixed, with some critics feeling that Jackson had already explored these musical themes and others criticising what they perceived as weak vocals. Other critics were more favorable, noting the album for its incorporation of genres Jackson previously hadn`t explored, justifying the use of previous themes but with `brutal honesty`. Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix has sold over six million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling remix album of all time. On October 20, 2000, it was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was the first Styx album featuring A&M solo artist Glen Burtnik, the only album to feature the Dennis DeYoung/James Young/Glen Burtnik/Chuck Panozzo/John Panozzo lineup, and the last album to feature John Panozzo on drums before his death in 1996. The album spawned three singles. `Show Me the Way` was written by DeYoung and peaked at #3 on both the Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart and Adult Contemporary Chart. Some radio stations played a version edited with snippets of congressional debate and caller dedications to troops in the Gulf War.[8] `Love Is the Ritual,` (Pop singles peak #80) written by Burtnik and Plinky Giglio, and `Love at First Sight,` (Pop singles chart peak, #25) written by Burtnik, DeYoung and Young, were also released as singles, but neither garnered the same amount of success as `Show Me the Way.` The album sold more than 500,000 copies and was certified gold by the RIAA. Edge of the Century would be Styx`s last album of new music for A&M Records and due to poor album sales, A&M did not renew their contract.
