Original, made in West Germany Knjizica od 16 str. Odlicno ocuvano knjizica 5 Cd 5 The Crossing is the debut album released by Scottish band Big Country. The album reached #3 in the UK; overseas, it hit #4 in Canada on the RPM national Top Albums Chart and #18 in the US on the Billboard 200 in 1983. It went on to be certified platinum in the UK and Canada. It contains the song `In a Big Country` which is their only U.S. Top 40 hit single. Stuart Adamson and fellow guitarist Bruce Watson used the MXR Pitch Transposer 129 effect pedal to create a guitar sound reminiscent of bagpipes.[citation needed] Also contributing to the band`s unique sound was their use of the e-bow, a hand-held device which, through the use of magnets, causes the strings of an electric guitar to vibrate producing a soft attack which sounds more like strings or synthesizer.[citation needed] The album has been remastered and reissued on three occasions. The latest version released by Universal in 2012 in advance of the album`s 30th anniversary includes a second disc of previously unissued demos. Also included in the set is a track produced by Chris Thomas from the first abortive attempt to record the band`s debut album. The demos include the earliest recordings done by Adamson and Bruce Watson, some of which were recorded on four-track prior to recruiting either a drummer or bassist for the band. The set also includes a booklet with interviews (new in the case of the current band members and archived in the case of the late Stuart Adamson) by the journalist and author Tim Barr. Lyrics for all of the key songs are also included, and the album has been remastered by Paschal Byrne from the original master tapes. In total, ten previously unreleased tracks were included in the deluxe, digitally remastered edition. It was the band`s second studio album recorded after the departure of Shane MacGowan, and features Spider Stacy in the role of lead singer.[4] Overview The album was not a critical or commercial success. After its release founding member Jem Finer left the band, and the remaining members decided to end their run together as well. The album yielded one single, `How Come`. `Love You Till the End` was to be the second single, but this was never released.[10] The song appears in the 1999 movie Mystery, Alaska and on the soundtrack to the movie P.S. Original, made in Germany Knjizica od 4 str. Odlicno ocuvano knjizica 5 Cd 5 Studio album by Slade Released 3 December 1983 Recorded Portland Studios, Rak Studios Genre Hard rock Length 42:29 Label RCA Records Producer Jim Lea, John Punter Slade chronology Slade On Stage (1982) The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome (1983) Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply (1984) The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome is the eleventh studio album by the British rock group Slade. It was released on 3 December 1983 and reached No. 49 in the UK charts. The album was produced largely by bassist Jim Lea. The two UK Top 10 singles released from the album, `My Oh My` and `Run Runaway`, were produced by John Punter. In 1984, the album was re-packaged and released as Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply by CBS Associated records in the United States and Canada. Both `Run Runaway` and `My Oh My` were US Top 40 hits that year, giving the band their long-awaited breakthrough there. Background Following Slade`s performance at the Reading festival in 1980, interest in the band was revived and a major record deal with RCA signed. The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome was the band`s second studio album for the label and had mostly been recorded in 1982. In November that year, the album`s first single, `(And Now the Waltz) C`est La Vie`, was released and reached No. 50 in the UK. However, in early 1983, RCA felt the recorded tracks for the album lacked potential chart hits and in the effort to amend that, RCA suggested the band work with producer John Punter.[1] Lead vocalist Noddy Holder and Lea then wrote and demoed two songs; `My Oh My` and `Run Runaway`. Both were received with enthusiasm by RCA and Punter was hired to work on the two tracks. Released in November 1983, `My Oh My` became a UK No. 2 hit over the Christmas period. The success of the single led to RCA rush-releasing The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome in December, rather than February 1984. The album reached No. 49 in the UK and was a success across Europe. In January 1984, the second single `Run Runaway` reached No. 7.[2] The success of Quiet Riot`s version of `Cum on Feel the Noize` in late 1983 led to Slade signing with CBS, who would repackage The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome into Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply in 1984.[2] The album`s title was suggested by Holder. In a 1983 interview, he revealed: `I was reading the sports pages one day and there was an article on motor sport. It talked about the `kamikaze complex` those guys who compete seem to have in putting their life on the line every time they go on the track. I think Barry Sheene was mentioned as a specific example. Anyway, it struck me that some of our songs fitted in with this idea, so the title seemed a logical choice. And let`s face it, everyone has something of that complex in `em, we all take gambles at some point in our lives.`[3] Track listing All tracks are written by Noddy Holder and Jim Lea Side one No. Title Length 1. `Slam the Hammer Down` 3:25 2. `In the Doghouse` 2:44 3. `Run Runaway` 5:00 4. `High and Dry` 3:10 5. `My Oh My` 4:12 6. `Cocky Rock Boys (Rule O.K.)` 3:27 Side two No. Title Length 7. `Ready to Explode` 8:38 8. `(And Now the Waltz) C`est La Vie` 3:43 9. `Cheap `n` Nasty Luv` 3:27 10. `Razzle Dazzle Man` 4:39 Personnel Slade Noddy Holder – lead vocals, rhythm guitar Dave Hill – lead guitar, backing vocals Jim Lea – bass, keyboards, guitars, backing vocals, lead vocal on verses (track 7), producer Don Powell – drums, percussion, gongs Additional personnel Andy Dummit – saxophone (track 2) Pete Drummond – announcements (track 7) John Punter – producer (tracks 3, 5) Andy Miller, Dave Garland – engineers (tracks 1–2, 4, 6–10) Mike Nocito, Pete Schwier – engineers (tracks 3, 5) Andrew Christian – art direction Shoot That Tiger! – design John Shaw – photography Phil Davis – set designer

At Metacritic, the album received a score of 61 out of 100, based on 10 critics.[2] AllMusic`s Jon O`Brien wrote that `this stripped-back collection of lesser-known hits and album tracks reads like a who`s who of lo-fi hipster indie rock`, praising Birdy`s `youthful and fragile` voice and concluding that `thanks to her haunting tones and a tasteful yet compelling production, it impressively avoids being the try-hard affair you`d expect.`[3] The BBC`s Nick Levine called the album a `clever covers set... which points to a great future` for the singer.[12] `With a voice that defies her tender years, Birdy... has found herself very quickly touted as one of the brightest up-and-coming talents in the UK,` Andy Baber of MusicOMH wrote.[6] Hermione Hoby of The Observer praised her covers of `Skinny Love` and `Shelter`, while noting that the self-written track `Without a Word` `suggests she might become even more than just a startling voice.`[8] While praising `Birdy`s simple piano/guitar arrangements and her own sweet voice`, The Guardian`s Caroline Sullivan found the album to be `pleasant but pointless`.[5] James Lachno of The Daily Telegraph wrote that the album `consolidates the buzz with more sparse, affecting covers, and a lone original track that is adequately folkish, but for now Birdy remains a novelty.`[4] Chris Conaton of PopMatters wrote that Birdy `proves that she can really sing; but [her] appeal may depend on how much enjoy desperate, aching piano ballads, because there are a lot of them here.`[9] Duncan Gillespie of NME dismissed the album as `an album of wet-indie covers`.[7] Rolling Stone critic Jody Rosen was more critical, panning the album as `the most boring music ever recorded by a teenager` and concluding, `No one so young should have such flawless taste in Quality Indie Rock, or sound this bummed out.`[10] Singles `Skinny Love` was released on 30 January 2011 as the first single from the album,[13] which was a cover of a song by American indie folk band Bon Iver. The cover reached a peak of number 17 on the UK Singles Chart. `Shelter` was released as the second single from the album on 3 June 2011. The song covers a track by English indie pop group The xx and peaked at number 50 in the UK. `People Help the People` was released as the album`s third single on 28 October 2011.[14] The song is a cover of the song by English indie rock band Cherry Ghost and peaked at number 33 in the UK. `1901` was released in the UK on 9 March 2012 as the album`s fourth and final single. The Score was released worldwide on February 13, 1996, on Columbia Records. The album features a wide range of samples and instrumentation, with many aspects of alternative hip-hop that would come to dominate the hip-hop music scene in the mid-late 1990s. Primarily, The Score`s production was handled by the Fugees themselves, Jerry Duplessis and Warren Riker, with additional production from Salaam Remi, John Forté, Diamond D, and Shawn King. The album`s guest verses are from Outsidaz members Rah Digga, Young Zee, and Pacewon, as well as Omega, John Forté, and Diamond D. Most versions of the album feature four bonus tracks, including three remixes of `Fu-Gee-La`, and a short acoustic Wyclef Jean solo track entitled `Mista Mista`. Upon its release, The Score was a commercial success, peaking at the number-one spot on the Billboard 200, and becoming the third best selling album of 1996.[3] It also topped the Top R&B/Hip-hop Albums chart for eight weeks, becoming the longest running number-one for a hip-hop group,[4] and topped the 1996 year-end chart. The singles `Killing Me Softly`, `Fu-Gee-La`, and `Ready or Not` also achieved notable chart success, and helped the group achieve worldwide recognition. As of February 2021, The Score has been certified seven times platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It is the best-selling album by an American hip-hop act in France,[5] where the album has been certified Diamond. With an estimated 22 million copies sold worldwide,[6] the album has become one of the best-selling albums of all time, at the time of its release it became the best-selling hip-hop album of all time,[7] and remains the best-selling album by a hip-hop group.[8] As of June 2021, the album is the fifth most streamed rap album released in the 1990s on Spotify.[9] In addition to receiving mostly favorable reviews upon its release, The Score has garnered a considerable amount of acclaim over the years, with many music critics and publications noting it as one of the greatest albums of the 1990s, as well as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. In 1998, The Score was included in The Source`s 100 best rap albums list, and in 2020, the album was ranked number 134 on Rolling Stone magazine`s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[10] The Score was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, becoming the second rap album to receive a nomination and the first for a hip-hop group,[11] while winning the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, along with Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for `Killing Me Softly` at the 39th Annual Grammy Awards. Original, made in EU Knjizica od 12 str. Odlicno ocuvano knjizica 5 Cd 5 Rockferry is the debut studio album by Welsh singer Duffy, released on 3 March 2008 in the United Kingdom by A&M Records. It was released in the United States by Mercury Records. Taking four years to record the album, Duffy worked with several producers and writers including Bernard Butler, Steve Booker, Jimmy Hogarth, and Eg White. Primarily a soul recording musically, Rockferry is composed of ballads, torch songs, and up tempo songs in the style of 1960s pop music. It was well received by music critics, who praised the record`s musical and lyrical depth and occasional darkness, Duffy`s vocal performance, and the record`s contemporary instrumentation and production which created a warm sound. Music critics favourably compared Duffy`s work on Rockferry to the music of Dusty Springfield and Duffy`s contemporary Amy Winehouse. Rockferry was a commercial success, reaching number-one in several music markets. It was the fourth best-selling album of 2008 worldwide according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry[1][2] and the highest of that year in the United Kingdom.[3] The album was still in the top five of the UK Albums Chart a full year after its release, spending most of those weeks in the top ten albums, and a significant amount in the top three. In 2010, it was ranked as the 22nd best-selling album of the 2000s in the UK.[4] The album has won a number of awards since its release, including the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 51st annual ceremony (2009).[5] Duffy also won three awards at the 2009 BRIT Awards for her work on Rockferry including Best British Album, whilst Butler was given the Producer`s Award. It was also among ten albums nominated for the best British album of the previous 30 years by the Brit Awards in 2010.[6] A total of five singles were released from the album. The first single, `Rockferry`, introduced Duffy`s music to European music industries, whilst the second and lead single internationally, `Mercy`, was an international hit, topping over twelve music charts and becoming the third-best-selling single of 2008 in the UK.[3] Follow-up single `Warwick Avenue` was another successful single, whilst `Stepping Stone` did not replicate this earlier success. Rockferry was re-released as a deluxe edition on 24 November 2008, preceded by the lead single `Rain on Your Parade` which became the fifth overall single from the album. Released 3 March 2008 Recorded 2004–2008 Studio Home & Maiko`s; Bookerland Studios; West Heath Studios; RAK Studios Genre Soulpoprock Length 37:50 Label A&M Producer Bernard ButlerSteve BookerJimmy Hogarth In 2004, following success on Wawffactor, a Welsh language televised singing contest in which Duffy, then performing under her birth name Aimeé Duffy, the singer recorded a three-song Welsh extended play, titled Aimée Duffy, while working part-time in two jobs as waitress and in a fishmonger`s.[7] The EP later achieved chart success in Wales, charting at number one on the `Siart C2` music chart[8] The following year, Duffy appeared on Mint Royale`s See You in the Morning as a back-up singer.[9] Duffy was introduced to Jeanette Lee of Rough Trade Records in August 2004, after singing Richard J. Parfitt`s `Oh Boy`; the song was later released as a B-side to the single `Rockferry`.[10] Lee moved Duffy to Crouch End in London, orchestrating a meeting between Duffy and Suede`s ex-guitar player Bernard Butler.[11] Lee, with independent record label Rough Trade Records, would eventually manage Duffy.[12] After Butler had given Duffy a soul music `education` by downloading tracks on to her iPod that she could listen to while around London or travelling back to Wales, the pair co-wrote with her and helped create a new retro sound.[13] The music included tracks by Al Green, Bettye Swann, Ann Peebles, Doris Duke, Scott Walker, Phil Spector and Burt Bacharach.[14] Duffy later told The Guardian that Bettye Swann became one of her `biggest inspirations`, with Duffy being particularly influenced by her song `Cover Me` because `it marks the time I got interested in physical contact. I was 19, and here was a woman singing `Cover me, spread your precious love all over me.` It`s very tender, but it`s also, hilariously, quite crude.`[15] Duffy was contracted to A&M Records (UK) on 23 November 2007.[16] By this time, she was finalising her debut album, to be titled Rockferry, after Rock Ferry, a suburb of Birkenhead, on the Wirral Peninsula, where her grandmother lives.[17] She performed on the BBC Two television show Later with Jools Holland,[18] which resulted in a second appearance on the related broadcast Hootenanny, where Duffy performed with Eddie Floyd. On 22 February 2008, she appeared on Later with Jools Holland for a third time and performed `Rockferry`, `Mercy`, and `Stepping Stone`. Duffy also made appearances on the BBC Two television programme The Culture Show on 23 February 2008, performing `Mercy`. In January 2008, Duffy came second to Adele in the annual BBC News Online poll of industry experts `Sound of... 2008`, which ranks acts about to emerge in the coming year.[19] According to Duffy, `The album took nearly four years to make. We had to hire cheap, tiny studios and sometimes there would be three-week periods between writing and recording.` Bernard Butler, who was not initially paid, produced four songs for the album, including the single, `Rockferry`.[20] The singles `Mercy` and `Stepping Stone`, were co-written and produced by Steve Booker, and the second single `Warwick Avenue`, by Jimmy Hogarth and Eg White. `Mercy` was the last song written for the album.[21] Music and lyrics Duffy revealed that both `Mercy` and `Stepping Stone` are autobiographical; `Mercy` is about `sexual liberty` and `not doing something somebody else wants you to do`, and `Stepping Stone` is about not expressing her feelings to a person she fell in love with.[22] `Warwick Avenue` was the second single released from the album. The song occurred when Duffy, then 19 years old, was familiarising herself with the London Underground and accidentally found herself at the Warwick Avenue station. Original, made in Holland Knjizica od 12 str. Odlicno ocuvano knjizica 5 Cd 5 Studio album by Depeche Mode Released 14 April 1997 Recorded January 1996 – February 1997 Studio Abbey Road, Eastcote, Westside, Strongroom and RAK (London) Electric Lady (New York City) Larrabee West (Los Angeles) Genre Alternative rock[1]trip-hop[2] Length 60:07 Label Mute Producer Tim Simenon Depeche Mode chronology Songs of Faith and Devotion Live (1993) Ultra (1997) The Singles 86>98 (1998) Ultra is the ninth studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode, released on 14 April 1997 by Mute Records. It was the band`s first album following the departure of Alan Wilder. Wilder`s departure and lead singer Dave Gahan`s drug problems, which culminated in a near-fatal overdose, had caused speculation that Depeche Mode was finished.[3] Ultra was the first album the band recorded as a trio since A Broken Frame (1982); it was also their first where the band members were not involved with production, with these duties being handled by Tim Simenon of Bomb the Bass fame. Though not directly supported by a full-length tour, it was promoted via a brief series of concerts promoted as Ultra Parties. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and at number five on the US Billboard 200. By April 2006, it had sold 584,000 copies in the United States.[4] In 1999, Ned Raggett ranked the album at number 50 on his list of the `Top 136 or So Albums of the Nineties`.[5] That same year, the annual Ultra Music Festival in Miami was named after the album by its co-founder Russell Faibisch,[6] and acknowledging its influence on the Polish rock scene, Tylko Rock ranked it at number 71 on its list of the `100 Albums That Shook Polish Rock`.[citation needed] The album was preceded by the singles `Barrel of a Gun`, released on 3 February and `It`s No Good` which was released on 31 March. It was followed by the singles `Home`, released on 16 June and `Useless`, released on 20 October. Background and composition Lyrically, much of the album was inspired by the turmoil the band had faced throughout the 1990s. Martin Gore said that the opening track `Barrel of a Gun` is about realising that you do not have to fit someone else`s view of the world.[7] The demo version is similar in feel to the final version, although it was recreated from scratch. The drum pattern was cut up from a loop and re-sequenced, as Gore did not want to use an unedited drum loop, but also felt that loops can provide an `immediate atmosphere`.[8] Musically, the band explored many sounds within the realms of alternative rock but with larger electronic and trip-hop influences. The band also felt that they wanted to do something different since Alan Wilder had left the band.[9] Tim Simenon served as the album`s sole producer, who had previously created two remixes for the limited 12` release of the live version of `Everything Counts` with Mark Saunders. He had also been a large fan of the band`s music as far back as their appearance on Some Bizzare Album in 1981 with the track `Photographic`. As Gore and Gahan were impressed with Gavin Friday`s 1995 album Shag Tobacco, which he had produced, Daniel Miller arranged for him to meet with the band. `Sister of Night`, `Useless` and `Insight` were the first demos to have been written. The band played these demos to Simenon when they met, and despite their simplicity he was impressed. Upon hearing the demo of `It`s No Good`, he considered it to be a classic Depeche Mode song.[10][11] While the project started out as a small set of songs, it eventually evolved into a full album.[12] Gahan continued to struggle with his heroin addiction during the early months of the album`s production. He rarely turned up to scheduled sessions, and when he did, it would take weeks to get any vocals recorded; one six-week session at Electric Lady in New York produced just one usable vocal (for `Sister of Night`), and even that was pieced together from multiple takes.[13] Gore was forced to contemplate breaking the band up and considered releasing the songs he had written as a solo album.[14] In mid-1996, after his near-fatal overdose, Gahan entered a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program to battle his addiction to cocaine and heroin.[15] Recording sessions continued after he came out of rehab; according to Simenon, he sang `Barrel of a Gun` as if nothing had happened. Wilder himself commented on the album discussing his feelings towards his departure: I can`t hear it in the same way as a record I was involved with, but I certainly don`t feel a yearning to be involved again, and I`ve no regrets about leaving at all. The album is difficult for me to comment on, though I do have something of a stock answer, which is: you can probably work out what I think about it by listening to Unsound Methods and then Ultra, because the two records tell you everything you need to know about what the musical relationship was between myself and Martin. It`s almost as if we`ve gone to the two extremes of what we were when we were together. What the band had before was a combination of those extremes. All tracks are written by Martin L. Gore. All lead vocals by Dave Gahan, except where noted No. Title Lead vocals Length 1. `Barrel of a Gun` 5:35 2. `The Love Thieves` 6:34 3. `Home` Gore 5:42 4. `It`s No Good` 5:58 5. `Uselink` instrumental 2:21 6. `Useless` 5:12 7. `Sister of Night` 6:04 8. `Jazz Thieves` instrumental 2:54 9. `Freestate` 6:44 10. `The Bottom Line` Gore 4:26 11. `Insight` (includes the hidden track `Junior Painkiller`, starting at 6:27) GahanGore 8:37 Total length: 60:07 Personnel Credits adapted from the liner notes of Ultra.[26] Depeche Mode David Gahan Andrew Fletcher Martin Gore Additional musicians Kerry Hopwood – programming Dave Clayton – keyboards, keyboard programming (all tracks); string arrangements (track 3) Victor Indrizzo – percussion (tracks 1, 4) Jaki Liebezeit – percussion (track 10) B. The album continued the R&B/new-jack sound of its successful predecessor, Don`t Be Cruel. Babyface, L.A. Reid, and Daryl Simmons returned as songwriters and producers, however Brown also worked with new producers, most notably Teddy Riley, who was considered a pioneer of the new jack swing genre. Riley also co-wrote and produced the majority of the album. Brown also had more creative input and control of the album, becoming an executive producer and co-writing seven of the album`s thirteen tracks. Bobby peaked at #2 on the US Billboard 200 album chart, and spawned two Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 singles: `Humpin` Around` (#3) and `Good Enough` (#7). The album also peaked at #1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart and reached #2 in Australia. The album included Brown`s first duet with wife Whitney Houston on `Something in Common`, which was also released as a single. Bobby generally received positive reviews from music critics. Brown received his second Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 35th Annual Grammy Awards for `Humpin` Around`. The album has been certified 2x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipments of over two million units in the United States. Robert Barisford Brown (born February 5, 1969)[1] is an American singer-songwriter, occasional rapper, dancer and actor. Brown started his career in the R&B and pop group New Edition, from its inception in 1978 until his exit from the group in 1985. Starting a solo career, he enjoyed success with his second album in 1988, Don`t Be Cruel, which spawned a number of hit singles including the self-penned `My Prerogative`, and the Grammy Award–winning `Every Little Step`. Brown had a string of top ten hits on various Billboard charts between 1986 and 1993. Brown, alongside frequent collaborator Teddy Riley, is noted as a pioneer of new jack swing; a fusion of hip-hop and R&B. His other hits include, `Don`t Be Cruel`, `Roni`, `Rock Wit`cha`, `On Our Own`, `Humpin` Around`, `She Ain`t Worth It` and `Something in Common`. He also starred in films such as A Thin Line Between Love and Hate and Two Can Play That Game. He returned to New Edition for a reunion album and tour from 1996 to 1997, and returned with all six members for another stint in 2005. In 1992, Brown married singer Whitney Houston, with whom he had daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. The couple starred in the 2005 reality show Being Bobby Brown. In 2007 their marriage ended in divorce.
